PDF Download is a Firefox extension that allows to choose whether you want to view a PDF file inside the browser (as PDF or HTML) or you want to download it. This is the right extension for you if you are annoyed to click on a link and then discover that Firefox is loading the Adobe or other PDF plug-in (very heavy) and is trying to show a pdf file directly inside your browser. This extension, every time you click on a link, checks if the target is a pdf file and in this case let you choose what you want to do: open pdf file inside a new tab, download it to the file system or view it as HTML (like Google View as HTML feature).
More than 2 Million people have already downloaded the extension: visit the official PDF Download website and give it a try!

MMAR 2006 is the 12th IEEE International Conference on Methods and Models in Automation and Robotics. It will be held in Międzyzdroje, Poland, from August 28th to August 31st, 2006.
The most exciting news for me is that I will partecipate to the conference, since my paper entitled "A Modular, Hierarchical, Reconfigurable Controller for Autonomous Robots" has been accepted.
This paper is based on my master thesis (you can read it here) and it illustrates a fuzzy controller that fully satisfies the desiderata of modularity, hierarchical structure and reconfigurability. This fuzzy controller is based on meta rules that allow to build incresingly complex behaviors and to have great modularity considering behaviors like black-box units. A very interesting thing of this fuzzy controller is that it allows to reload a behavior without stopping its execution: this feature is mostly used during testing (when it is discovered that a change is needed in a behavior) and it makes behavior development much faster.
Though I will present alone the paper during the conference, I must say that I wrote the paper with Alessandro Saffiotti that also helped me a lot during my master thesis (I will never finish to thank him).
Here below you can see Rasmus, the robot we used to validate our work.

I'm curios about what has been the best slogan pronounced by the supporters during or just after the World Cup.

One very nice was: "Italia al Circo Massimo, la Francia al massimo al circo".

What is it your favourite one?

Of course, I could not miss to put the "summer dance" on my blog ; - )

Campioni del mondo! Campioni del Mondo! Campioni del Mondo!

I'm very sad for the French guys that thought to have already won the Cup, I'm really really sorry : - D but you must wake up from your dream and look at the REALITY!!
As I've written in a previous post, ITALY had his revenge for 1998 and 2000: French guys now must shut up!! 8 - )

Overnight it was announced that Microsoft MES has been selected as the official ECU (Electronic Control Units) supplier to F1 in 2008, 2009 and 2010.

I think this will be a huge challenge for Microsoft and it can be a big problem for Microsoft too. In fact, can you imagine Alonso going at 200 km/h and because of a Blue Screen of Death he goes straight instead of turning? If this happen, I'm sure that Microsoft will be close to the failure: let's hope the boys from Redmond are on the ball with F1 as anything less than perfect is not good enough in the world of F1 and it could prove to be the greatest gaffe in Public Relations history if perfection isn't achieved.

To be honest, I must remind also that Microsoft won the "Best Telematics Solution" at the "Telematic Detroit 2006" with its Microsoft Windows Mobile for Automotive platform.

At the end, I think that Microsoft has done the wrong choice: I would have been away from entering the F1 world. It's too risky for their brand.

Well, today France won against Portugal: the score was 1-0.

Actually, Portugal played a really good game and France scored a goal only thanks to a penalty that was almost a gift given to France from Carvalho.
Portugal insisted in attack until the last second and I think they deserved at least to end 1-1 the first 90 minutes.

Anyway, the final of World Cup 2006 will be Italy-France:

It will be the revenge of Italy against France. We still remember World Cup 1998 and the Europe Cup 2000.

Who will win? Of course I hope Italy, but I must say that France played quite well in the last two games, so I think they both have 50% of chances.
