Don't you know what ASIMO and QRIO are? In few words: the best humanoid robots. At least, this is my opinion.

ASIMO is a Honda's humanoid robot conceived to function in an actual human living environment in the near future. It is easy to operate, has a convenient size and weight and can move freely within the human living environment, all with a people-friendly design. ASIMO (Advanded Step in Innovative MObility) is about 120 cm tall and this feature makes it easy to communicate with. The introduction of intelligent, real-time, flexible-walking technology allow ASIMO to walk continuously while changing directions, and gave the robot even greater stability in response to sudden movements.

ASIMO is not autonomous and can be made to walk straight, walk backwards, walk sideways, walk diagonally, turn on the spot or walk around a corner by using a portable controller. Using a button on the controller unit, ASIMO can make registered gestures such as shaking hands, waving both hands, waving only one hand or bowing.

The other humanoid robot of which we are talking about is QRIO. This robot, also known as Sony Dream Robot, not only walks on two legs, it can also manage uneven surfaces, dance, recognize people's faces and voices, use a wireless connection, carry on conversation,...
QRIO is able to walk on an uneven surface, or one whose slope suddenly changes thanks to a new technology that uses a wide range of sensors to detect changes in the walking surface and respond accordingly. QRIO determines the condition of the walking surface using four pressure sensors in the sole of each foot to gather data on the amount of force being received from the walking surface.
QRIO is also programmed to check its position after a fall, turn itself face up, and recover from a variety of prone positions.

QRIO has an Autonomous Behaviour Control Architecture that allows it to adapts its actions to its surrounding environment: there is no need for a controller at all!
